Healthy Bitter Gourd Karavila Sambol Recipe

Ingredients : Serves 4

  • 3 bitter gourds ( Karavila )
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric, ground
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 onion, sliced thinly
  • 3 fresh green chillies, seeded and sliced
  • Vegetable or Coconut Oil for frying
  • Lemon juice to taste

Method :

Wash the bitter gourds well. Cut them crossways into thin slices. Wash thoroughly the sliced bitter gourds (  karavila ) with turmeric powder. Heat up a wok with coconut oil and fry the bitter gourd slices until it becomes crispy. After frying place the fried bitter gourd on an oil-absorbing sheet. Cut the green chillies and onion into small pieces and mix them with fried bitter gourd. Season with the lemon juice and salt and leave it for 15 mins for a bitter gourd to absorb them well. it’s always best if you serve it warm.
